About Us
Our family
Martha and Eric (and kids) run the ranch and are fueled by their deep love for the land and animals. After Martha's dad tragically passed away in 2022, they decided to follow in his footsteps and continue a portion of his cattle operation. After feeding out a steer of their own to feed their family, they realized the value of beef that is wholesome, unadulterated, and flavorful. Their concern with their own family's health and sourcing meat that was humanely-raised prompted them to start selling beef directly to consumers. Throughout this process, they have found enjoyment and satisfaction—from the birth of a calf to the tenderness and flavor of a ribeye.
Both Eric and Martha come from families who have raised cattle for generations. Because of this, they have seen firsthand the benefit of utilizing the land to its full potential and caring for the animals that get to enjoy it. And raising cattle still is a family affair. Eric's dad, mom, sister, and nieces can frequently be found fixing fence, working cattle, or helping bring the wandering cow back home.
Our why
At Lucky Cattle, we believe happy, healthy cattle are the best cattle and make the best beef. That's why we're dedicated to ensuring our herd is provided a life of quality and care. Our practices are rooted in generations of responsible stewardship of the land and ensuring that each animal is destined for a life of health and vitality.
Our herd has been selectively bred and has lived on the same land for three generations of ranchers. The result is a resilient, docile, and well-adapted herd. By standing on the shoulders of our relatives who ranched this land, it is our goal to ensure that every cut of Lucky Cattle Company beef not only tastes exceptional but comes from an animal that has lived a healthy and "lucky" life.
How we do it
The key to our practices is ensuring a calm, stress-free life for the herd. This begins with spacious pastures and balanced nutrition. From beginning to end, our cattle are never given hormones or other harmful additives. Our cattle enjoy native pastures the majority of the year and are supplemented with high-quality hay during the winter months. Each animal is finished in a spacious pasture with grass and with our carefully crafted, proprietary feed blend. This isn't just any feed—it's a highly researched, tested, and unique recipe made exclusively from the highest quality, all-natural products.
Not only are our cattle easier and safer to handle, the care we provide makes the beef better. Our cattle are never shoved into feedlots where stress hormones are released and negatively affect the quality of the meat. Instead, when the time comes we partner with a local State-inspected facility and personally transport the cattle directly there.
